What are the rules for Draftkings NHL?

Draft Kings offers Daily NHL contests throughout the NHL regular and postseason.

The essential DraftKings NHL rules are listed below, and similar to other traditional Fantasy Sports games, you are required to pick a line up of players (9 for your Draftkings |NFL line-up) within a specified budget ($50,000 as per all Draft Kings contests).

DraftKings NHL Essentials:

  • You must pick a lineup comprising 9 players and must include skaters (non-goalies) from at least 3 different NHL teams.
  • The 9 line-up positions are: W, W, W, C, C, D, D, UTIL, Gs.
    W spots can be filled with a RW or LW
    The UTIL spot can be filled with any skater (LW, RW, C, or D), but not a Goalie
  • You can switch any Draftkings NHL player in or out of your lineup up until the start time of the game that player is appearing in;
  • You have a maximum budget of $50,000 to create your Draftkings NHL Line-up;
  • Your total team score will be made up of the total DraftKings NHL contest scores of the individual 9 players selected;
  • You can monitor your position live during the contest simply by logging in to your NHL account and clicking on ‘Live’ contests.

How do I score points playing Draftkings NHL?

DraftKings points scoring for Daily Fantasy NHL contests are listed below.

Players will accumulate points as follows:
Goal = +3 PTS
Assist = +2 PTS
Shot on Goal = +0.5 PTS
Blocked Shot = +0.5 PTS
Short Handed Point Bonus (Goal/Assist) = +1 PTS
Shootout Goal = +0.2 PTS
Hat Trick Bonus = +1.5 PTS
Goalies only will accumulate points as follows:
Win = +3 PTS
Save = +0.2 PTS
Goal Against = -1 PTS
Shutout Bonus = +2 PTS
Goalie Scoring Notes:
Goalies WILL receive points for all stats they accrue, including goals and assists.
The Goalie Shutout Bonus is credited to goalies if they complete the entire game with 0 goals allowed in regulation + overtime. Shootout goals will not prevent a shutout. Goalie must complete the entire game to get credit for a shutout.
