Fanaments were one of the pioneers for Daily Fantasy Sports in Europe but it appears that they are already in trouble with the site announcing that as December 1st 2017 -Fanaments Closed.
Fanament account holders were emailed a week prior to the closure instructing them to withdraw funds, and when logging in to the Fanaments site, users were displayed the message below.
It remains to be seen whether the Fanaments closure is temporary or permanent as the communication to date has been vague on future plans stating the site will be ‘inactive for sometime’. What is clear is that no games will be hosted at the site anytime soon and the fact that Fanaments have told all players to withdraw funds suggests that the future for the brand is bleak
Although Fanaments encouraged all players to withdraw funds immediately, it is not clear yet if all player funds have or will be returned. The private lobby where users can setup their own contests indicates some users have been unable to reclaim funds and setup contests with ‘Names’ to reflect this.
FantasyFives will communicate any update or communication we receive from Fanaments but the closure highlights that the DFS industry in Europe is not a proven market. Over the years many betting, poker and and casino brands have gone bust with some not returning player funds. Although the financial health of private businesses is not immediately transparent, the biggest DFS operators such as FanDuel UK and DraftKings UK have proven history, funding and resources. As such Fantasyfives recommends that these sites are the safest and most trusted to play DFS games at, especially for new players.
